My first step was to consult the
Web for information resources. I
was surprised to find many sites that specialize in this highly collectible 6
cylinder offering from Honda. After several hours of searching, I found the
following to be the most useful and reliable:
Dave's Motorcycle Page - Great! Reprints of articles, tech tips, pictures, and some good links. Even a .wav file of a CBX going through the gears! If this doesn't get you going.....?
Tim's CBX Web Site - Another great site full of CBX parts. Alex is very helpful on the phone, and yes, he offers FREE tech support for his products . His Bulletin Board is a great place to look for CBX parts or ask for help on any CBX topic. He also has a great catalog, and pictures of his CBX!
I researched, and then joined the International CBX Owners Association. They have a great website, and a great organization. Pay them a visit.
David Silver Spares - A site in the U.K. that seems to have a lead on a multitude of CBX Parts. Will ship internationally.
Helm Inc. - They have reprints of the official Honda Service Manual. Cost is about $36.00 plus shipping and handling.
Midwest Action Cycle - This is a mail order motorcycle parts store. They deal in OEM parts. Their prices are very competitive. In fact, their prices are considerably lower than you pay even for aftermarket parts. Because virtually every part is in stock, the parts are also usually shipped faster than you can order them from the dealer.
CBXSupersport.com - Rick Bentley has a ton of parts for CBX's. Just send him a request, and he'll reply with a great price, and you'll have the part in no time! Rick also has a new Bulletin Board set up. Give it a look.
The A to Z of Motorcycling! And they're not kidding! If you don't find it here,
it's not out there! Salvage yards, technical, parts, classics, clubs, and more.
- Here's an online
parts fiche that has every
part number you could want. Why get ripped off paying for one on
when you can just click here?
CBX Linx - Links to a number of CBX related pages. Worth a look.
House Of Kolor - English paint supplier that has an exact CBX match.
Color Rite - Another supplier of vintage motorcycle paints.
Pipemasters - Makers of the awesome 6 into 6 exhaust system. I am purchasing a set now. They're hand made (40 hrs.!) with chrome header pipes and polished aluminum canisters. Approx $1050 per set, but hey, the look from the rear says it all!
Reproduction Side Covers - are available from Ian Billingham, ICOA 4276, CBX Riders Club 6291, UK. Email him here! Ian makes reproduction side covers for 1979 & 1980 models. They sell for $120 a pair, plus shipping. See them here.
CBX Club UK - Our friends overseas have a nice site, with Bulletin Board, etc....Give them the courtesy of a look! You may find some bargains!
PartsNMore.com CBX Parts - A nice site that has plenty of rebuild kits, gaskets, carb kits, etc. Check them out, looks like a nice site!
- Yes, ebay......just be very careful. I see people place some ridiculous
bids on items that are still available through retail outlets. Such as
microfiche (free if you follow the link ), setup manuals, shop manuals (
follow
the link to Helm, Inc ), seats, etc. Please, careful what you bid on.......but
you just may find the elusive part you need at a bargain price.
