Here's something
that looks hard, but really isn't too bad. Just be sure to have plenty of muscle
on hand!
After you get the engine ready to mount, here's a few tricks I learned:

My frame was bare when I hung the engine. I positioned the engine on a piece of carpet, then lifted the frame over top of the engine, and lowered the frame in place. Sort of like an assembly line would do. Then, with help, raised the rear of the engine up enough to get the lower rear bolt in. Be sure to grease it first, as it will prevent corrosion, and ease it through. A small scissor jack under the pan (on a block of wood, of course) makes the rest a one man operation. Have your help lift the front to get the jack in. | |

Attach the carbs after you have the lower bolt in. Leave the engine hanging forward, sitting on the scissor jack. Attach the carbs per my carb section, then attach the air box, leaving the clamp for the filter box loose. | |

Slowly jack the engine into place, watching the cables and wires. Jack it some, then check the cables. Jack, then check. Keep raising the front until the air boxes mate, and you can get the second lower bolt in. (The bolt just above the lower rear ) | |

Attach the upper mounts last. Use the jack to raise or lower the engine slightly to get the bolts in. If you do the uppers before the second lower bolt, you can't get the engine to move enough to line the hole up. Be sure to attach the oil cooler when you fasten the triangular mounts. | |

Tighten all bolts to torque. Use anti seize on all to help prevent corrosion. Don't forget to tighten the clamp between the two air boxes. | |

For carb servicing, you can tilt the engine without detaching everything. Just position the jack, then remove all motor mounting bolts except the lower rear. Be sure you have slack in the wires, and disconnect the clutch cable.. Also, loosen the rear wheel so the wheel can slide all the way forward. The engine will lower until the chain has no more slack. This also helps to work as a safety, just don't let the chain get too tight. |
