The Frame Re-build Overview

Completed May 2001

The frame and bodywork of this bike are  very rough, as can be seen by the accompanying pictures. It was kept outside under some tarps, but nonetheless, is definitely in need of some work. A lot of the screws have rusted, and the parts are definitely showing their age.

My plan is to strip the frame bare, paint it, and then clean, paint, and re-assemble/rebuild all of the remaining parts.

I found out through some research that there are many places to still find parts, including factory new parts. Charles Ewing is one source. Although you'll pay top dollar for his pieces, they are new or professionally refinished and well done. Midwest Action Cycle is another. There are many rusted bolts, nuts, etc, that just may be easier to replace than try to recondition.

The tank, fender, and rear cowl are another story. Honda is out of the fender and cowl. I did manage to find a new tank and seat! The story is on the Bodywork page. The forks are rebuild-able. Whatever else is found will be handled as it comes.

The idea is to have a bike that's a 9 on a 1 to 10 scale.
